Manchester United negotiating exclusivity with Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim in $6 billion-plus sale talks: Sources

English football club According to those with knowledge of the situation, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani’s organisation in Qatar is in talks with Manchester United about selling itself for more than $6 billion. The group wants to be the only one to buy the club.

One of the sources said that as part of the planned deal, members of the Glazer family, who own minority stakes in Manchester United and control it because it has two types of shares, would cash out.

The Glazers like the Qatari offer more than the offer from British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, who started the company that makes chemicals and is worth a lot of money. Ratcliffe’s offer is based on the idea that the Glazers will still care about Manchester United in some way.

During the exclusivity period, Manchester United would not be able to talk to anyone but Sheikh Jassim. It was not possible to find out how long this time might last. Sources warned that the situation was still changing and that if Ratcliffe made a new offer, it could stop Sheikh Jassim from getting exclusive rights.

The people asked not to be named because the matter is private.

Representatives for Manchester United and Sheikh Jassim did not reply right away to requests for comment.
