Sensex gains 200 pts, Nifty advances to 18,757

On Tuesday, domestic markets began rising despite contradictory signals coming from overseas markets. The benchmark Sensex on the BSE increased by 196.74 points, which is equivalent to 0.31 percent, to start at 63,166.74, while the more general NSE Nifty50 increased by 66.30 points, which is equivalent to 0.35 percent, to 18,757.50.

Infosys and HDFC Bank were the driving forces behind the rise in major indexes; in the meantime, HDFC Life, M&M, Asian Paints, ONGC, Hindalco, JSW Steel, Apollo Hospital, Tata Consumer, Bajaj Finserv, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, and Axis Bank were the top winning stocks at the open.

At the opening bell, the market was down across the board; however, the Nifty Metal index was up 0.76 percent, the Nifty Realty index was up 0.65 percent, the media index was up 0.57 percent, and the IT index was up 0.52 percent.

After the IT giant revealed on Monday that it had agreed to an agreement with Denmark-based Danske Bank to the tune of $454 million to expedite the lender’s digital transformation, Infosys saw an increase of 0.80 percent when the market opened.

The share price of Bharti Airtel increased by 0.70 percent following the announcement that the company’s Business CEO, Ajaya Chitkara, had resigned from the business and that the carrier would be revamping its leadership.
