Adipurush box office collection day 2: Prabhas film collects ₹240 crore, beats Pathaan

On June 16, the much-anticipated mythological epic film Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, was released in theatres. The film starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan had an impressive opening day at the box office, grossing Rs 140 crore worldwide. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, it earned Rs 65 crore on its second day of release in India across all languages. Adipurush is also performing well at the Hindi box office, grossing Rs 37 crore over the course of two days. Adipurush’s second-day gross in Telugu states reached Rs 26 crore.

Since its release, Adipurush has received a great deal of criticism and ridicule, particularly for its visual effects and dialogue. In the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district of Chhattisgarh, a protest demanding a nationwide prohibition on the screening of the film was conducted. Nevertheless, despite receiving conflicting reviews, the film has performed well at the box office. According to T-Series, the film grossed Rs 100 crore on its second day of release, bringing its two-day total to Rs 240 crore. This is marginally higher than Pathaan’s two-day gross of Rs 219 crore.

Adipurush’s first-day total rates fourth in terms of worldwide gross box office receipts. RRR has earned Rs 222 crores, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has earned Rs 214 crores, and KGF: Chapter 2 has earned Rs 164.5 crores.

The epic Ramayana-inspired film stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana. In addition to Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage, the film reportedly cost 500 crore rupees to produce.
