Budget focuses on Practical and Industry-oriented education system: PM Modi

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that this year’s budget improves the foundation of the educational system by making it more practical and industry-oriented. The Prime Minister stated during a post-budget webinar on harnessing youth power through skills and education that the young and their future were prioritised in the Amrit Kaal Budget.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “For years, our education sector has been a victim of rigidity; we’ve tried to change it.” We’ve reoriented and scaled education to meet the needs of today’s youth and the demands of the future…New technology is helping to build new-age classrooms. This budget focuses on and builds the foundation for a practical and industry-oriented education system.

Noting the COVID epidemic’s experiences, the Prime Minister emphasised that modern technology is assisting in the creation of new types of schools.He mentioned that the government is focusing on technologies that provide “anywhere access to information,” citing SWAYAM, an e-learning portal with 3 crore subscribers, as an example.

He mentioned the idea of virtual laboratories and the National Digital Library as massive sources of information. He also emphasised the possibility of studying in local languages via DTH channels, and he stated that many similar digital and technology-based projects are underway in the country, which would be strengthened by the National Digital University.

“Such futuristic steps are going to change the entire space of our education, skills, and knowledge sciences.” “Now the role of our teachers will not be limited only to the classroom,” PM Modi said in the webinar.

“Today, there are about 75 thousand employers on the National Internship Portal, where requirements for 25 lakh internships have been posted so far,”  the Prime Minister informed. He urged industry and educational institutions to make full use of this platform in order to enhance the country’s internship culture.

The Prime Minister also emphasised the availability of a stipend under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Plan for around 50 lakh youth. He claims that it is fostering apprenticeships while also assisting the sector with payments.

This is the third of 12 post-budget webinars organised by the government to solicit thoughts and proposals for the efficient execution of programmes outlined in the Union Budget 2023.
