FIFTY FIFTY, a popular K-pop group, has found themselves in the middle of a poaching scandal. Everything you need to know

Poaching allegations have been made against the K-pop group FIFTY FIFTY, which is responsible for the worldwide smash tune “Cupid.” It has been suggested that Warner Music Korea is attempting to switch agencies and recruit members of competing bands. As an act of revenge, the management firm ATTRAKT for the new female group FIFTY FIFTY, which is known as FIFTY FIFTY, has declared their plan to pursue legal action against the third-party company.

FIFTY FIFTY EMBROILED IN MEMBER POACHING ALLEGATIONS

The fact that Warner Music Korea allegedly made efforts to get Fifty Fifty to break their exclusive contracts with ATTRAKT has recently come to the attention of fans. The next day, June 26, ATTRAKT issued a follow-up statement in which they clearly named Warner Music Korea as the ‘external force’ driving the approach to violating the contract. As a means of providing a reaction, Warner Music Korea also made an official statement elaborating on its stance.

ATTRAKT’s Chief Executive Officer, Jeon Hong-joon, made this point clear in an interview with a South Korean entertainment website that was conducted behind closed doors. He said that the agency’s biggest competitor in this scenario is not Warner Music Korea but rather the third party who contacted them first. However, he urged that Warner Music Korea provide an explanation of their stand on the matter.

“Hello, this is Warner Music Korea. We are informing you about our official position regarding the claim made by Attrakt, the agency of rookie girl group FIFTY FIFTY, today (June 26),” their statement read.

Warner Music Korea released a statement that said, “First, Warner Music Korea is the overseas distributor of FIFTY FIFTY, and we have been operating as such since April 1, 2023. From the beginning of the contract period up until now, we have been doing our best to mobilize the capabilities and networks of Warner Music Group to make the brilliant achievements of FIFTY FIFTY and their agency shine even more, so it is very regrettable that unsavory suspicions have been raised. The claims made by Attrakt are unfounded, and we express our regret about the sending of a proof of content. We earnestly ask you to refrain from spreading unconfirmed rumors and baseless speculative reports in the future. Thank you.”

ATTRAKT, the management business for the rookie female group, issued a statement not too long ago in which it described how a third-party company attempted to close the official fan café associated with the group. The first declaration was made in Korean, and then an English declaration was made after the initial declaration.
